The Eclectic Eye:  Favorite Photographs from the Eau Claire Digital Photography Club
June 1 - August 31
Opening Reception:  Thursday, June 3

The Eau Claire Digital Photography Club is a casual group of artists that enjoy exploring photography as a hobby.  They meet monthly to share their latest works and discuss the methods used to create them.  The photographers range in experience and artistic style.

Artists in the show:  Vern Barber, Bill Benson, Virginia Erickson, Lloyd Fleig, Diane Gorton, Marlys Graf, Steve Johnson, Judy Lee, Loretta Lunderville, Claude Schilling, Mary Smith, and John Staber.

MAKE A NOTE...

Where do I park my car?
Take advantage of free 2-hour parking for library customers in the lot across the street at 7 S. Dewey St.  Watch for signs showing which spaces are reserved for library customers.  There's also plenty of metered parking along the street and in the lot on the library's lower level.

 

YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAMS AND EVENTS


ZOO-M In On Reading!  Summer Library Program, June 1 - August 2

Sign up at the kick-off event on June 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. (Featuring a live petting zoo!)  You may also register anytime between June 1 and August 2.  Sign up and receive your official reading folder.

Babies - Infants up to 24 months
Read-to-Me - Children who are read to
Readers - Independent readers
Teens - Those entering 6th grade and up
Read at your level.  Complete the entire reading folder to be entered into a drawing for additional prizes.

Go Ape Over Storytime!
June 14 - July 22   Youth Services Program Room
No registration is required for these events. 

Polar Babies
For babies ages 15 months to 23 months with a parent or caregiver. This 30-minute program, including a social time for parents and babies, will be held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

Jungle Jumpers
For two- and three-year-olds. This program will be held on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult during this 20-minute story program.

Forest Friends
For four-year-olds through children entering kindergarten. This 30-minute program will be held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Make-and-Take-Crafts
School-age children are invited to drop in on Tuesdays between 1 and 3 p.m. to make a craft to take home.  New selections each week.  Crafts available while supplies last. 

Baseball Trivia Contest
Youth Services and the Eau Claire Express have teamed up to bring youth between the ages of 6 and 18 a baseball trivia contest.  Trivia questions will be organized by age group (6-9, 10-13, 14+). 

June 21 - July 2 - Pick up your trivia card in Youth Services.  Answer 4 questions - Win 1 ticket to an Eau Claire Express baseball home game and enter to win Eau Claire Express-related raffle prizes.  

Thursday, July 8, is Library Night - Meet players on the field before the game.  Two lucky participants will be chosen to throw out a first pitch!


Attention Students!  The race is on for the "Zoo-m in on Reading" trophy competition!  Increase your school's chances of winning the trophy by completing your reading folder.  Visit Youth Services throughout the summer to see how your school is doing.  Be sure to encourage all of your friends to complete their reading folders!


Walk on the Wild Side Programs and Events

Wednesday performances
These programs are held at 10:30 a.m. and repeated at 1:30 p.m. in the Eau Claire Room located on the library's lower level.  Shows last approximately 40 minutes.  FREE tickets are required and may be picked up in Youth Services one week before each performance.

Hands-on & Demonstration Programs
These programs are designed for school-age children. The sessions will be held on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. in the Eau Claire Room and last approximately 45 minutes.  No registration is required.

June 24  Chaotic Juggling Troupe
July 1    Randy Korb brings an assortment of live frogs, toads, salamanders and Monarch butterflies
July 8   Underwater Adventures features hands-on activities, live animals, interactive learning

July 22   Irish dance demonstration by Janelle Glenna

MyBook Café Book Discussions
All discussions are held on Monday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. in the Youth Services Program Room.  Those in grades 4 and 5 may register for up to two book discussions from the five dates listed below.  Registration begins June 1. You must bring your library card to register.

Teen Summer Safari
The teen summer library program is intended for anyone entering 6th grade through age 19.  Register for the teen reading folder, book discussions and other events.

Earn a "Safari Buck" for every 30 minutes of leisure reading.  Use them to purchase prizes or bid on prizes at the Teen Prize Auction on Monday, August 2nd. 

Pizza & Pages Book Discussions
Register for up to two book discussions from the list below.  Registration begins June 1.  Copies of discussion books provided.  Pizza and pop provided.

Friendly competition, refreshments and prizes!  No registration required.

"Got Talent?" Annual Teen Talent Show
Saturday, July 10, 1-4 p.m.
Teens may enter in two categories--bands or miscellaneous.  Each category will be judged separately.  Pick up a submission form and return it by June 26, or register on the teens website at: www.ecpubliclibrary.info/teens

Guitar Hero III : Legends of Rock Tournament
Friday, July 23, 1-3 p.m.
Come rock out for a chance to win prizes!  No registration required.

Teen Prize Auction
Monday, August 2, 1-3:30 p.m.  Entertainment at 1 p.m.
Winning talent from the Teen Talent Show will perform.  Professional auctioneer Jerry Andrews will add extra excitement to this year's prize auction. Bidding begins at 2 p.m.
